Before heading off on a long journey, whether through the city, or perhaps a more rural area, I’d like to make a few recommendations concerning how to prepare, both yourself and your vehicle, so as to have a smooth a journey as is possible.
Firstly, I would like to suggest that you bring enough water and food for use on your journey. We can’t predict when an incident or emergency might occur, and if we’re stuck out on the road away from home, the last thing we want in this stressful situation is to be dehydrated or hungry, as this will cloud your decision making skills. Another necessary thing you should take with you on your trip is money. It’s amazing, the amount of people I come across who either forget to bring their wallet’s along with them, or have a lack of money whilst travelling. A cell phone is also another object in which to bring with you on your travels. Should you have money, you may be thinking you’ll be covered, and won’t require a phone in case of accident or emergency, but if you’re in an unsafe location and concerned about stepping away from the car to make a call, or have a poor physical condition which doesn’t allow it, a mobile phone can literally be a life saver.
When travelling, it is recommended that you dress for the most unlikely of weather conditions, and if you don’t feel like doing this, at a minimum have something at hand which will protect you that way. If you’re driving during a heavy snowfall in the midst of winter, it is not a bright idea to dress light. Whilst you may well be much more comfortable with this when in the vehicle, if an accident or emergency was to occur whilst travelling, and you may be stuck inside the vehicle longer than planned, you might wish you had some decent clothing on, especially if your low on gas, and the car’s about to cut out, the heaters with it. Should you not feel like dressing properly for the occasion, at the least have something in the boot that will help you, such as a coat, umbrella, even a thick blanket if you get stuck in the car for a long period of time.
These are some elementary safety suggestions to take along with you when planning you’re long trip, and I’d like to thank you for reading this article.
